Dog-eared & Torn – Deebee Bishop Album Launch
I recently had the privilege of contributing some violin, mandolin and vocals to my good friend Deebee Bishop‘s new album titled Dog-eared & Torn. He held an album launch at ‘elk on 38’ tapas bar in Macksville, on Gumbaynggirr land.
I reckon I’d call it a country album if forced to categorise it but it displays Deebees unique ability with lyrics and his quirky way of side-stepping the ordinary. Track 9, Gumbanggirr, is a petty special tribute to country – I love how the strings turned out on that. It’s a big contrast with the opening track Song For A Friend with its jangle of mandolin, violin and guitar riffs supporting a nostalgic story of time passing.
Deebee has been making music for years and has a couple of other albums up on iTunes, an EP titled Didn’t I Tell You and from quite a while earlier Highly Strung And Ready To Twang from a band called Twang we played in together back in the day.
